out of the rut. (slightly)

My wank week continued on saturday after I bubbled on the final table by running JJ into k2 all in pre. Yes that was not a misprint. Basically a nutter who ran like a beast all eve. arrrrgh that wud have been over £1k in live wins had I cashed. O well.

Decided to blow my last 7 dollars on that 2 dollar shootout coming 8/1024 for a colossal $40 and then cashed 3xx out of 3k for another monumental $30, which suprisingly puts me about even for the week. As you can tell it's not the money anymore that annoys me it is the time consuming games that seem to take forever, especially when your trying your best to play as well as you can, something which does not come naturally to me, especially when I see 10 8suited UTG. Anyways made about 60 quid today and will withdraw that for new years eve up in the tooooon at tiger tiger.

That is about it tbh. And any bets on the Juve Chelsea game are also welcome btw :D. See y'all later and have a good neu Jahr. X x x X X

A load of old bollocks.

Just writing in disgust of my week at poker, Run awfully all week spending hours and hours on MTTs to get absolute fucking bullshit at the end. 27th/6000+ plus to get runner runner tripped.

Losing every single bastard race with qq vs AK. Final straw today, $5rebuy, healthy stack, about 100/1000 (4k entered) first prize 9k. Very simple stuff and cant complain (although I am :D) huge stacj on huge stack qq vs AK, obviously rivered. Wish they had the decency to flop a full house and let me come to terms with my bumming a few seconds earlier. Wankers.

Anyways this is a pointless post and just one of them weeks. Not playing for a while. Apart from tomorrow (live). Cunts. ROOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thursday, 18 December 2008

Thursdays are a good day.

Managed to haddock my way to my second live win today, in a £10 2rebuys/addon getting £350 for my efforts which will no doubt help pay for megans present(s)! Once again I ran well but overall I think I played ok. Since I last went the tournament has vastly improved, starting stack 3k with 50/100 blinds for an hour.

Anyways started off shit as usual, entire table limping and me having no cards and chiselling away at my stack. I then got bored and miserable and shoved 74s from the bb after everyone limped for 100 giving me a nice pot. Shortly after I failed to bluff with 2 4 and bummed my stack a bit so rebought and added on after the break.

I then got my first hand of the night a bit later on, and with blinds at 150/300 I moved all in over a raise for about 6k with qq and it held against KJs. Happy times. Fast forward about 4 blind levels and having approximately fuck all, I moved in OTB with A3o for 6BBs (12k) to get called by jj and for me to hit a four card flush. *Hears background noises containing the words lucky bastard*

That put me up there nicely at about 25k, where things started to go better. The bloke who I lucked out on was on tilt, but he still had an obscene stack as did the bloke to my right, not the best seating plan in the world. Eventually it got down to the final table and I did a small dance, mainly because I needed a really bad pee. (The pee was good if anyone wondered)

Right where am I, yes there were 3 people shorter than me and we had another round of 1k/2k. Then it started to get a bit mental all of a sudden. The bloke I outdrew called his entire stack off from an UTG raise with K8s and hit a King sparking abuse from the unlucky lad who had AQ. A bit later I was in the BB with KQo, two limpers, so I decided they were weak and shoved all in for about 20k. Bearing in mind that this was almost half the tilty guys stack, he made a good call nevertheless and showed A9o. I hit a full house *I can here those noises again* and doubled up.
I have to say I did lay some very questionable hands down preflop such as AQ twice to a raise, and in position. I had one of those gut feelings and let them go. I actually think I only called a raise once on the final table and raised/folded the rest. Meh, who cares.

Shortly after there were a few humongous pots with the bigstacks which I couldn't complain about, and we found ourselves with 4 left. This took chuffing ages to decrease, as eventually the guy who died with AQ went out. 3 left woo.

I was then involved in a pot where a donk bet on the river prevailed. 3 left, all limp/check/complete. I am in the SB with 94s and flop a diamond draw on a J86 flop. I check, bb checks and button bets about half. I ponder a bit and pretend to raise but just call. turnx, check check, river x. I then donk 17k into a 30k pot, and he eventually mucks the 6 (he says) Twas a close one. 5 hands later with blinds at 4k/8k he raises 20 into my a8, I come over the top and he made a great great fold with A6, hats off. The other two then went all in for about a 110k pot, then there was only me and a nice Indian bloke.

Only two big pots here, one was where I flopped two pair K4, and he'd flopped two pair 24. *Regretfully the noises have ceased due to loss of voice* Amazingly it didn't go in as we both slowplayed ourselves out of valuetown. We were pretty even at this point with me being a touch ahead, when he limps in with A5s and I shove with 33 (blinds were 5k/10k). He makes the call, flop A1010, turn 3, river.......VICTORY!!!

Twas a good night, and shows I'm not a one trick pony, just a very very large fish who got lucky twice!!!!! :D XXXXXXX

Updaaaaaaaaaaaaaate.

Well it's suuuuure nice to be home. Soon as I got back I had 4 salmons, a rump steak, box of jelly, 4 bananas, 4 banana yoghurts, and beef and pork kidney stew with some blasphemous vegetables and ciabatta. And some prosciutto. It was fit. I have also lost exactly a stone since being at uni, which I think is half muscle half fat to be honest, now being at a shocking 14st 10. My fatal error was not lugging up any weights to Durham.

Right then, because that last paragraph was so utterly boring, lets move on to poker, And this post will be a very long one, so bear with. It has been a mixed last month and a bit, mostly positive though which is nice to report, however some epic tilt sessions have spoiled both profit and graphs :D.

Right I'll get the bad stuff out the way. As I might have mentioned before (Poker soc already know!) I have been grinding the £5 sit n go's on Vill Hill, first grind went well with just under £100 profit, then withdrew due to rent. I did the same again at the time of my last post, which was going well at £95 (started at £5) until I met a fish who was minus 9k beat me twice. I went on mega tilt. The first two games I ran like AIDS, then I played bad in the third one. I then took a 10 min break, returned to find him in a 20quid hu sit n go. Yeeeeas I went in that and ran like AIDS again.

Now then, because I am obsessed with Chaos theory, I think when I'm running like God, and flop a monster or get KK or AA in the hole, bad things happen, and I play them passively (unless it's obviously the nuts!) while when I'm running biblically bad, I look forward to an upswing. So, because I was running so bad, I entered two 50 dollar all in blind first hand HUSGS.................aaaaaaand I got bummed in both. Hahaa what a salmon, I'm never doing that again. So I lost my entire bankroll!!! thankfully I salvaged about 30 of it back playing cash, a most unlikely source of income.

Right, next bad thing. Did that thing where you get $50 free roll off a smaller site such as CD poker, and once you get enough points they release another $100. All you have to do is pass a poker quiz, with questions such as " Which of these hands is strongest..." etc etc etc. The 50 dollars they are giving you is small change due to the rake theyll be taking. I had to get 12,000 points to get my bonus, with 7 points per 5 man sit n go. No thanks. Needless to say played crap and ran crap, donking off the 50 in MTTs and sit n go's.

Yaaaaaay I think I'm out of the bad stuff and onto the good stuff now. Firstly, DUPS champ for the first term!! Ran well and played well (ish), making a fair few final tables, and when I didn't go out early I've somehow managed about a 20 quid haul playing 1p 2p, FINALLY getting to play with hannes in a total haddock fest of min raising and 10 high all ins. Note that this profit was entirely won with the worst hand. All in all the society has given me about 170 quid in prize money which as helped a lot with the food bill (see first paragraph). Online has been going well, especially heads up, and for the first time ever I've cashed out up every time at the 5p/10p home game at pauls. All in all total profit for the first term has been about 350 quid which is nice seeing as I'm a small stakes player, and of course I am not exactly the best player around.

I severely doubt this will continue, but will try and get some scores in live poker back at Gala. Hope everyone has a good xmas. Many lovings from your resident fish. XXX

WANKERS!!!!

Argghhh had a frustrating day today. Played a few MTT's today on Will Hill of all places. I found I had left myself a fiver in there, so decided to have a pop at a few.

Played first one came 3/60
Next one 7/55 (nothing)
Then played some heads up and spun the fiver up to 30 quid.
And then I entered the Friday super series- a £2 buy in with £500 added with just over 4 hundred runners.

Busted just now in an agonising 10/430 getting just under 25 quid for my efforts. Verrrry frustrated!

It was quite a good tourn, starting stack 2500 with 15 min blinds. Grinded it up to 3k and sat there for a while, eventually doubling up a bit later on some random hand. Literally stayed on 8k for about an hour and then I got my break when I got AA and some bloke shoved into me. From then on it was up and down, until I got a nice increase when I CRAI on A high on a board of 10 10 5 5 after villian overbet the pot.

As the blinds increased I got some walks and Kings a few times to resteal without much problem. Eventually my big break came when I called a button raise on j4hh (It was toms hand) I hit top pair and CRAI a blokes cbet who insta shoved on bottom pair and I call. He then abused me a bit in the chat box. After that it was just all your standard shit, except some of the pots were exceeding 200k with blinds at 1.5k/3k, which was a nice situation seeing I was always the medium stack.

Managed to get to the final table, where uber stack called my raise with 88 and hit a set on the turn after I CRAI on middle pair. Very pissed off but at least I've made about 50quid today. I am now going to donk some heads up I think. See y'all later! X

I can't beat fish.

Help me! Having lost a couple of $11 Hu today to a more disabled person than me, had an Av prof of like -4 and -38% or something like that. I lost 2 11s to him. Stalked him and then played two 33s again. He was terrible and I was worse. The scary thing is I think I have lost well over 80% of my HU with people with haddock bowls next to them.

I simply do not have the skill to deal with a person who calls raises when he has 70th pair no kicker and an estuary 13th nut inside straight flush melon draw on the flop. I normally have some sort of healthy draw, pair or A high. Maybe I'm just having a bad day! I then get min betted, fish for some sort of non-existant draw and in essence get drawn into a 'who is the bigger salmon' battle, then lose :D

Wanker. Right I'm withdrawing my tatty bankroll of $180 or something. X

Another completey pointless post.

I am just trying to avoid doing a french letter thing to an unknown employer for next years overseas shenanigans (sp?), while coughing up my internal organs due to a very cold (but enjoyable) trip to tynemouth. I tend not to do trips and all that malarkey but it was quite fun. I have realised having written this paragraph that the structure is crap and I need to improve my syntax.

Anyways I have a spot of man flu but maybe a bit worse. It must be quite bad because my white blood cells are made of steel and usually nuke all vile attemps to render me savagely ill. Along with this I constantly feel dizzy and can't speak properly or write properly (no change there). Obviously it could be worse; I could be a frenchman. (note the great use of the semi colon there)

Pokerwise piss all interesting to report. Playing a few 6 dollar HU and doing quite well. for the moment. I can't be bothered to go onto sharkscope and fetch the stats. But if you're really that bored you can search 'Netter17' on full tilt.

Please note that this is a friends account, andI only start playing when it goes into profit :D.

I am also ordering a chois now. Maybe also go down to the shop and have a fruit binge. Last weds I had approximately 400g of sugar in about 30 mins. Amazed I didn't get the shits and amazed the history of diabetes in my family didn't spring up.

I have also added a new picture of a salmon, adds a touch of class I suspect.

May all of thee who read this post run well after enduring such drivel.

Don't call Zlatan Ibraimovic a cunt.

Been a week or so and sod all has happened. After my abuse of that twat below, Juventus lost tonight to Inter which has ruined the happiness from yet another week of uncompromising salmonesque outdrawing haddockfests.

Today I put myself on tilt at how lucky I was. To be honest I played quite well early on having received approximately nothing. Blinded down as usual. Then worst hand of the night.

5 players. Blinds too big, Guy (as in our Guy) UTG moves all in for a huge 7k and I call with a3o, Then some bloke takes about an ice age and shoves over the top with JJ for just under the initial raise. Guy shows a4o

Flop X45
Turn 3
River 2.........Just....wtf

Then I managed to get onto the final table somehow, and people went. Outdrew guy with K7 vs KQ then won a race with 33 vs KQ then shoved all in OTB for adecent amount with 34s to see 8s. Flopped a flush draw and hit the turn. Just obscene.

Then I ran AQ into AA, and Guy took it down. Good work my son! At least this means I can afford to go down to dewsbury for my Aikido thing (did I mention I had quit rowing to take up some lethal japanese shit?) without worrying too much about losing the league. But hey, anythings possible and I don't deserve to win it in the first place. Right, I'm boring myself. I might go drink some Mbongo and eat some meat. Hope people are good.

Just drunk again but a VERY important announcement.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a swedish cunt.

A smaller win.

Seeing as most people were there yesterday railing, this s probably an irrelevant post, but what the hell.

Decided I fancied some MTT's yesterday on FT while my 2kg of lamb was having a 4 hour stint in the oven. I needed something to take my eye off the burning hunger :D Anyways it was a high stakes $2 buy in 6 max with just over 300 runners.

Started off pretty standard really, stacked some shortstacks about half way through to put me on around 2.5k, then had an uber hand when I managed to hit top set with 99 on a very drawy board, with the magical turn pairing the board giving me 9s full of 8s. Luckily with this he'd also hit trips and then 8's full on the river. Up to around 10k and over 70BB. Grinded it up to about 15 then lost a bit and then lost a bit more (fuck youuu Isaac! :p). Then I ran card dead till I shoved 66 from the cutoff into KK and A8 or something and hit a set, so lucky.

From then on it was up and up and all the draws I was playing agressively hit and got paid for thankfully. Eventually got to the final table about 4/6. Luckily two people immediately went out, one of whos chips went my way, and the other to the massive chip leader with just under half the chips in play. It was a fun FT the lead kept changing, I got bummed after losing a race with 88vs AQ and then 88 vs A6 but luckily managed to hold up with AK vs QJ to put me up their again. Eventually found my self heads-up with the huge stack with about a 2.5 to 1 lead. First and I limp shove AK from the SB and he makes the call with 44, wasn't happy about that till the ace came on the turn and a blank river put us pretty equal. Standard HU play ensued where I started to get the better of him until the final hand came where I check raised all in on a 6 high open ended straight flush draw and managed to hit against top two :D.

First was $147 (Paul enjoyed that one), fuck all for the amount of time and effort, but hey, I'm not complaining!

Fun cash game later on where I ended up about 12 or something for the first time in about ever. And I didn't give my stack to Paul for the first time in about ever either, I gave it to Isaac instead :D

Society game today, hope the cunt in 2nd goes out really early and I run deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Laters X

LOL!

Due to the daft cunts spamming the forum, I'm putting a possible contender for hand of the week on m blog.

I had minimal information on this guy, except that he liked to float a lot (who doesn't!). Now I must admit I've been a homosexual inter milan supporting vegetarian environmentalist in subscribing to sharkscope (along with Tom I might add) and he's played about 40 games and down some sort of amount. Made an utterly ridiculous min 1/20th pot value bet for shits!!

In other news, Juventus are the greatest.

As a follow on from this post, I have withdrawn just under $170 profit from a combination £5 HU and 10/25p cash. I have started a monster downswing being bummed all over the place so decided just to leave a few buy ins in :D

The best Italian word ever.

I can speak a decent amount of Italian, but came across this word yesterday.

Andare in tilt. This is a colloquial way of saying to get pissed off!! For those with any interest in language....andare = to go, and in tilt is obvious....so, vado in tilt= im getting pissed off. How exciting!

Neways pokerrr time. Fuck all to report. KNocked out of society tourn sometime early when I ran AK into KJ :D It was by a russian too which put me on tilt for the cash game lol. He was a nice bloke so no complaints. Played probably 90% of hands in 1/2 and was up about a tenner. :D The only fucking time hannes wins and I bust early!!

Heads up wise, started on will hill two days ago then went home coz of someone snuffed it. PLaying £5 HU, which is what...$8-9?? The standard is absolutely dire but I'm not playing great either. I tend to lose 500 chips getting reads and then work my way back up again, probably a bad way of doing it :D. Paul was saying it puts you on tilt and he's right!! I hate getting beaten by greater shitacts than myself. Up about $80 according to scope but my graph looks very tilty indeed with an ROI and av.profit ranging from $1-3.

Hope all is good XXX

i am a totally shit player!

Mmorning kids, have realised i am a crappy player. Lol omg italics where the fuck did that come from. Yes anyways I am drunk again.

Well then week 2 of the poker soc. Came 4th this time. Lucked out on Isaac with runner runner full house after he had AA. Then i had AA vs QQ. heldf up. Then I beat KJ with Q8, then had KK vs JJ. how lucky am I. Got cunted on the final table tho. Was set for back to back win after cunt open shoved 17k 1010 UTG into my AA and hit a melon on the flop. LOLLLLO i so deserved that. Yeah thats about it. I suck so badly its untrue I have no idea how Im up like $1.5 k coz im actually shiiiiiit lol. Me and lass then went out and got battered. Then somehow we found ourselves at pauls at about 2 am. He was playing heads up- the geek!!!!!!!!!! I then attacked calum while he was in bed but I think I lost I cant remember. Then I attacked Scott. I might have won that (I cant remember again). What else happended hahaaaa so canrt spelllll. Updaaaate.

Took a wee break from the party poker grind and ended up down about $90 so nothing drastic. Just had freshers week where I played fuck all poker apart from a 3 dollar 90 man on full tilt at about 3 am absolutely hammered cashing for 9 dollars lol.

Academically, taken up Spanish so now doing 3 langs but did that at A level so shouldn't be too bad. Changed because I hate the french language in general...it sounds disabled, and the completely irrelevant cultural modules piss me off. I've got my own mediterranean culture!

Anyways it was the first DUPS tournament yesterday with a £60 added prize pool, sparking a real good turnout and a great new look. Long story short I took it down for a 100 quid having lucked out severely on Gambon later into the tournament. Top of the league too so I'll savour that before I revert to form and lose! I wrote an account of yesterday drunk (again) so once Guy gives me some exec rights it'll get posted up.

Honestly though this was a landmark for me because the win put me over the $1k (note dollars :D) profit mark which feels really good and could have only dreamed of that when I started just over a year ago. Now I just have to stop losing at cash games lol.

Nice to see Hannes blogging it up too! X

getting bummed.

Well after that tourny win I figured I had enough to do the party bonus but only 215 dollars worth of it (wierd number) and long story short I've dropped $120 in about 4days playing truly horriffic poker and not running fantastic either. Played 10/25 underrolled (as normal) then decided to 4 table 5/10 playing proper LAG to rack up some points. That didn't work either so I'm back to my usual grind with no bankroll. Fortunately there are always some crazy people to donate but atm not happy with my play at all.

Great to see Keys cash again too, played fella :D. Can't wait for the cash games to start! Hope all is well.

A win.

Managed to take down my first live tournament yesterday at Gala for £410. There were only 32 runners though so wasn't anything uber special (Still properly chuffed though!). It was £10 in with two rebuys and an add-on in the first hour, starting on 2k with blinds staying at 50-100 until after the break. I'll just give a break down of some key hands :)

Had fuck all for the first 45mins or so and didn't play a hand. There was plenty of limping until I got dealt the monster K9o in the cutoff, and made a standard raise hoping the image would work. Got 2 callers but managed to flop K8x two diamonds. Checked in first pos and a guy led out. I thought for a bit and shoved which was met by an insta call on the nut flush draw. Managed to hold up which is always nice. Up to about 4k. In the next hand made a bluff all in on the flop with AJs on a Qhigh board after a guy cbet, and then the last hand before the break I threw half my stack away raising AKs (with limpers), c betting on a board of Q10x which was swiftly met by an all in. Added on. Stack now at 5200. (about average)

After the break the table split and I got put next to a total gobshite who thought he was a god talking about hellmuth, and how he could read me, and all the standard shit that goes with it. He was pretty quiet before until he sucked out calling an all in on A7s v AK, thereby becoming chip leader. About half an hour later after staying around the 6k mark with blinds at 400/800, finally got my break when a bloke min raised my big blind in early position which fucked me off (lol, such a child) so I went all in with AQ and as he was shortstacked he thought fuck it and committed the rest of his slightly smaller stack with Q5s. Happy days. It held up fortunately. He didn't seem that bad to be honest but that was a bit ambitious lol. After that lost a few races with mini stacks but got a few thousand back here and there.

On about 11k at this time when we were moved to the final table (8 man) and there was plenty of action. I got sat in between the two monster stacks (inc.knobhead) which was very gay but fortunately they donated some of it to the other side and in particular a reg who is almost always at the final table playing real solid stuff in my opinion. Anyways chips were exchanged with each other until two people went out.

With blinds at 1000/2000, I open shoved AQo UTG for about 13k and got called by the shortstack on KK and somehow lucked my way out after an A came on the flop. I was running far too well. A few hands after, I was dealt Q9hh in the BB. One limper and the SB completes. Flop comes 7h Kh 8x. SB checks I bet 5k, and get put all in soon after. Can't really fold there, ~35% will do me at this point I thought?. So I called and was semi relieved to find he had 5h6h. The turn came 4h which was interesting but the river was a blank catapulting me up to around 34k and 3rd in chips. Good times.

at 1500/3000 through to 2k/4k it eventually got whittled down to three after the reg ran his KK into 66. The lead kept changing between me and this other bloke. There was one monster where the new shortstack moved in for about 15k and I called on 55 from the SB, but knobhead who was 2nd in chips at this point also called and it ended up us checking it down and not hitting anything and giving the shortstack the lead (lets call him Barry). After that hand our Barry was sitting pretty on about 50k+, me on 25k and knobhead something similiar. Then there was a bit of carnage. Our Barry got pissed off with me when I said (in context with the conversation) "we've seen quad sixes tonight" referring to a guy still watching who flopped the dogs bollocks earlier on, to which our Barry replied, "Eugh, you fucking internet players with your quads and trips and numbers, it's 'four of a kind'," .....lol!

He was perhaps a bit annoyed that I had been raising his blind quite a bit and shoving on bollocks when he limped from the SB. Even though I was getting paid about £150 at this point, one of my greatest faults in poker along with plenty others is that I tend to settle for 2nd or 3rd and be happy that I have made it that far. I never really had a Killer Instinct when it comes to poker which is contrary to my approach in other things.

Anyways the game went on and on, until blinds came to 4k/8k. Our Barry was still grumpy and was playing back at me quite a bit with knobhead still moaning and insulting me and the very few spectators. Took about 20k off our Barry with trip (sorry, three) Queens a bit later after I checked all three streets so he put in a small bet and lost a bit (probs a crap play but our Barry is becoming very aggro). The pivotal hand came about 10 mins later. I find KJs OTB and just decide to smooth call mainly because I don't want to be raised all in by our Barry on a hand that can be quite easily dominated, and secondly to get a three way pot to try and get some action between the other two. Flop comes K10x with a flush draw. Led out for 15k and knobhead calls, and our Barry shoves. I couldn't put knobhead on anything because I thought he would push with a flush draw or any King. Instead I put our Barry on the draw and I made the call after a few mins hoping knobhead won't get involved seeing as there's someone elses tournament on the line. He folded thank jesus.

I was suprised and fucking relieved to find he pushed J10. Turn. Q River x. YES!! It turned out that knobhead also had J10. After that hand I was on about 95k with him on 10k or so. We went for a piss break and as soon as we sit down he shoves his 1BB into me and I look down at AA. It held up against 87 and I took down my first live tourn!!! Yaaaaay.

To cap things off the taxi driver was a Juventus fan. Sorry for the epic!! Hope you're all well.

lazing about.

Well it certainly feels abnormal sitting on my arse all day. Whats worse is that my second hand laptop blew up (the one I bought 2 months ago) so I'm restricted to the gym, daytime tv and playstation 2 when I'm not seeing mates....such a saddo. Probably a good thing cos my stars roll started to go down the shitpan, ($80 not much), by me playing super aggro and pushing when I shouldn't, I'd love to show you one particular hand but on my dads comp atm.

Basically limped KK, bloke in the BB got odds to call after everyone else limped and flopped a K high flush on a 10 high board. Hehe, serves me right to be honest. And then it went on a few low stakes MTTs after going out on more awful calls. I also seem to get abuse because of my Italian flag picture too which is quite funny but I'll be honest it puts me on tilt, worse when they min raise from the SB. This = meltdown. Won't play till university now I don't think, where donations will most likely be made.

Elsewhere, saw that Rock n rolla film, the plot doesn't really explain itself but it's very funny and a must if you liked Lock Stock. Bradford also got bummed on Friday. 'Nuff said, but at least the footballers are top of League two! Going back up on the 27th, via newcastle and one of its steak challenging restaurants. I don't know how much I have to eat, but apparently you get a hoodie if you do it. I could do with some new clothes to be honest. Hope everyone is well.

And good luck to ptevey.

NO MORE ENVELOPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Outta there.

Met some lovely people though, going on a night out with a few next weekend so that should be a good'un. If one thing struck me about this job, it is that is went reaaaaaaally quickly. You get up suicidal in a morning preparing to sweat, toil, swear, and receive paper cuts. Looks like I'd been self harming for ten weeks! Anyways it's over now, good good. Made a small mistake in the afternoon (I won't bore you with the details) But long story short I left it to this cunt I don't like to do it on Monday. (He doesn't like me either)

I've forgotten what I was going to say now, because all I have on my mind tonight is to get completely trashed in bradford city center while watching the mighty Bulls dispose of some Wiganites (is that even a word) for the grand final playoffs. What else....nope thats about it.

Pokerwise, spun $20 up to 160 then withdrew....deposited another 20 and played some HU sitn gos. (I am so fickle when it comes to poker. I'll play anything) So far played 10 $5 ones, winning 8. Tomorrow i'll probably be at 400NL or something. (With some help from the bank I might add :D.)

Right I'll stop babbling now. TO THE BAAAAAAAAAAAAARR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A year on.

This time last year I had just deposited my first 2 quid on willhill, coming off the end of a frankly glorious play money stint on FT which involved all ins on A3o UTG, all in blind omaha (SO much fun), and begging my friends who were in the millions for more chips to throw around.

A year later, I THINK I am a winning player (More so at sng's, less so, or perhaps break even at micro stakes cash, and CERTAINLY a big loser at the Aidans cash game :D). Granted I have limited quantitative evidence apart from good old Sharkscope, I do believe I am in reasonably healthy profit with respect to the stakes I play. This is something which I am no doubt chuffed with, but as always there are tons of more things to learn, especially going into the more complicated maths.

I find myself now grinding the $3 sit n gos again. Months ago when I was doing reasonably well hovering round a 25% ROI, it took me a lot of concentration, meticulously looking at who I'm playing against and perhaps even thinking too hard about it.

Today is different. After playing like a complete prick at the $6 version in not the last grind, but the one before that, profits took a tumble and I was still out of my depth, often being in no mans land after a c-bet was called and just giving up post flop. As I say, today I have mentally moved on. I am not scared to raise on shit, to float, to adapt a little and these $3 18 men seem much simpler, with decisions being made with much more confidence and conviction. Think of it as half a Paul Williams playing half the stakes...I'll settle for that :D. On a side note though, how fucking small would half a Paul Williams be!?

Clearly though this hasn't been all my doing, it is Allah's will. (haha I'm joking) The usual suspects like Isaac and Gambon have helped me immensely and I must thank them for it. Neways, enough slurping; Bring on next year!

Feeling better.

I am walking again semi-normally which is lovely because as we all know I turn into a complete whiner when I'm immobile, (I pretend to be an athlete). However, it has to be said athletes don't spend 8 hours a day on C&C generals: Zero hour.

I haven't been up to much all week apart from that, fun fun. The only other thing worth mentioning is that when my computer overheats due to too much gaming, I've been watching a shitload of poker vids and hands, thought I'd might as well learn some new stuff as well as refresh the memory. In Sit n gos I'm learning not to limp (obviously there are certain situations where a limp will do just fine) but raising or folding seems generally speaking a better way of playing and makes decision making much easier.

I've been watching in particular the EPT final tables and I think the commentary is very useful indeed. So after a little donk session the other day with Isaac et al I ended about $20 up or something, and then decided to put into practice what I saw. Long story short I entered a $16turbo sit n go for shits (I wanted to face [much] better players than myself but at the same time still give mesen some sort of hope), and managed to take it down, without running like Usain Bolt. I can obviously make pretty much no conclusions out of one sit n go but it certainly helped not limping and wasting chips folding to re-raises. I certainly felt more comfortable than I thought I would.

And then just now I've gone back to donking a couple of 3 dol sit n gos and a satellite to the sunday 200k, and went out on the bubble on all 3. Back on form :D.

Not much else to report apart from that I am so happy with the CL draw. Real and Zenit, here we come. I would give respect to that belarussian side, but they share a border with russia; so as my polish genes dictate, no respect at all must be given :) Hope everyone runs well or continues to do so *coughKEYScough*

FUCK,

Injured again. Same knee, though just stretched ligaments (self diagnosis) I can't be arsed going to hospital, i'll just repeat the rehab process as before. Worst thing is being off work, No work, no money. Every day i'm not there I lose £50, not good. Hate being immobile. Bastard fucking shit.

Well, it could be worse. I could have AIDS, or be a vegetarian, or something else unpleasant. Rant rant rant rant rant rant.......

Plodding along.

Just a quick update, minimal change really. Went to another live tournament a week ago and ran KK into AA first hand so that was quite fun. Work is sweatier than ever though I managed to get a wee rise to a truly colossal 7.14/h. Only 3 weeks left of work now and another £1k to be paid into the old account, something which will be very very welcome indeed.

I also got an email off the full tilt support team telling me I am now eligible for rakeback on my account which is beautiful. So once work is done I'll begin the grind (for about the 4th time). But this time try not to withdraw and really try and hit the 1k mark. See y'all soon. x

Thou shalt not gamble

Just got back from the sweatshop. It's getting worse, mainly because of the sheer amount of stuff that gets put on my machine. Last week I had 437,000+ envelopes to do (to give you an idea, each wad you pick up, straighten out, squash, check, replace crap envelopes, then pack, consists of 200 envelopes). It took a VERY long time. This week I have an order for 1.5 million. Who actually needs 1.5 million envelopes? Is it a ratio of one pixel per envelope or something? Gah. I don't mind hard work either, but this just so dull. Yet necessary I suppose.

You know when you're daydreaming, images float into your head, be it a naked woman or a dead vegetarian. Mine are envelopes. Conveyor belts of envelopes. I have also found out that whenever I get post, I'm more interested in the envelope rather than the contents, examining it and thinking to myself "Is this packable?." Haha, god someone help me.

Finance is getting better, obviously still in debt due to this bastard rent, but better nonetheless. I decided to take out my stars winnings which were small ($112.78) as wasn't getting many hands in due to tiredness/gym/ wife. Yesterday though me and a couple of friends were driving around and one suggested we pay a visit to the casino as he wanted to join to get a free tenner bet. There wasn't any poker on so I told myself I wasn't going to play ( I don't play roulette or blackjack) and then while they were having fun on the roulette tables, I sat down next to a guy who I'd played football with for about 7 years. Fancy that. He was pissing around on the brag tables so I thought fuck it and got 20 quids worth of chips. I then hit a straight flush, and a few straights to leave me at £115 profit at the end of the night. I ran stupidly well, almost Isaac like (but not quite :p). For minimum stakes that wasn't bad, but Everyone else around was dropping hundreds and I just thought to myself don't dare come back for more as I'll swing harder than Klitschko. I vow never to play that game again, but being drunk or something similiar it probably won't happen.

Next debt to pay off= College bill.

Potential. But frustrating.

Well, I've played a lot of poker over the past few days. Went to two live tournaments at the weekend and final tabled both earning me a total of £130- ok, but it could have been a lot lot more.

Friday was moron night at napoleons, a (wait for it) £10 pot limit tournament with unlimited rebuys for 2 hours, starting chipstack 1k, with blinds at 100/100 for the duration of the rebuy period. Basically, If you hit your hand, you will get paid unless someone outdraws you. Cut a long story short, ended 6th after I ran AQs into 77 twice in two consecutive hands.

Saturday however was possibly the best tournament poker I've played, against people who know how to play. To make things even more interesting, there were 4 quads that night, two of them on my table., including a hand going thus..

First to act raises with 77, gets called by 88 and JJ. Flop comes 784. All in. Turn. 7.chip

And this one.

UTG raises with A3s, Kylan reraises with AA, mini stack pushes with 85o for some value. Flop xx3 Turn: 3. River. 3.

I was picking some nice spots to raise on shit, and later on, there was a 3 way monster pot which I managed to win become chip leader.

UTG raises with 99, really stupid woman player (who incidentally MIN raised my big blind a few times and put me on epic tilt) calls this large raise with A10, and I move in with AKclubs. Flop came two clubs and managed to hit on the river, though it must be said I did have a vast amount of outs on the turn through a straight draw too. I was seriously stacked up now and increased it further when I stacked another two people (small and medium stacked respectively). And then all of a sudden I went card dead on the final table, I couldn't really bully too much either, as I wasn't getting even speculative hands, it was 9 max, and there were two others not too far away in their respective chipstacks. Blinds became incredibly large to the point where most people were on 8-10 BB. The one hand I did raise (AQ) under the gun met a reraise all in, and after thinking (hoping) he wouldn't do that with AJ, I made a fold as I decided he must have 1010+. I layed it down face up, the bloke said good fold and showed AK. That made me happy.

After another while I pushed K5s from the SB into tens which pissed me off epicly. I keep telling myself it was unlucky as I had him covered (not by much) and that he would only call on perhaps the top 20-25% of hands at best. Needless to say I went out for a pathetic 50 quid.

Jokerstars has been going ok, roll stands at $101 but I must confess I have been playing 10c/25c, but playing steadily if I say so myself. Just hope it continues. Hope everyone is going ok. x

Update.

I realise this blog is turning into more of a 'life' blog, and the life of me isn't that interesting, but sod it I'll share it all the same.

Right, into my fourth week of work now, and steadily clawing tooth and nail out of debt at last. Unfortunately the payrise isn't available due to the fact that the factory isn't that busy, which is a shame seeing as I apparently learnt "exceptionally quickly."

Went to blackpool at the weekend for the 3year anniversary with the wife, which was just immense. Not really romantic, but hell- It had beer, rollercoasters, and the Irish. This set me back a few bob, but then I got a ring off my housemate saying that the place was a shit tip and hadn't been furnished, so we got 2 weeks rent back which was a godsend, and paid for the weekend. I am now currently 800 into an 1000 overdraft after paying off a few debts, but this is forecast to improve dramatically over the next few weeks.

Other news in brief; I was forced to go watch the full monty MUSICAL (they must have put that blasphemous word in size 1.8 or something.) This was not set in Yorkshire as it was in the film. It had no humour in it, and 95% of the audience were women. I made a conscious effort to kiss my girlfriend in an open space so all the suspicions were put to the sword :p. After what seemed like a few ice ages, it ended with them getting into thongs, with the fat guy in particular not having a great time as his left strap got trapped in his tyre so you could see some sexy groin fat. It was tragic.

Right, poker news. Live tournaments- crap. Had a good run at one last week, but died running J2 from the SB into A10 at with about 8BB left. Pacific went pretty crap. I was swinging too much playing 10/25. At one point up to $80 on a table, but a combination of a few outdraws and
bad calls put me down about $40 overall. Nothing drastic. So 30 mins ago I decided to get back properly, so decided to put $40 back in Stars (lucky figure!) and grind at 2/5 like before until a proper deposit can be made. Up 10 or so at the mo. I remember this place. Time to check top pair then.

I maybe open to a few bets getting from $40 to $120 playing exclusively 2/5 within exactly 168 hours (a week), i'll see how I go tonight, let me know if you're interested. Hope all is well. x

bleurgh...

Not a very informative title to be honest, but can't find a summing up word or phrase!

Got paid today. I am now out of obscene debt and into just debt. Seeing as I haven't been online these past few days, you would be correct in assuming the tournament didn't go well. It was easily my fault though so no excuses.

Basically I played loose early on to try and get a feel of the table, pissed away a BI very (too) quickly, resulting in an absolutely tragic image. I therefore rebought, and then got unlucky when my AKo was outdrawn by AJ with runner runner straight after the money went in on the turn. Serves me right for playing absolute village poker before. I had about 400 chips left, and folded every hand until the add-on period.

After the break I picked up AA and I creamed myself and was suddenly thankful for my image, but alas a raise sparked nothing but blinds. Picked up a few hands, and then one big one where I checked a flush draw to the river as I didn't fancy getting raised on the turn and practically giving away the fact I had a draw. Luckily someone rivered a straight and put me all in, getting me to about 10k. Blinds eventually came to 500/1000, and raised UTG to 3k with 1010. (was on about 13k), flop came J K A all d. LOL. had no diamond. After the next round, I had AJs in the SB, a shortstack pushed from UTG and I called and ran in to QQ. Fair enough. And that was that.

In other news, my friend kylan (great sit n go player) is basically giving me his pacific poker account to work off the bonus and hes staking me (I didn't ask this time! :D) so I might be getting back into it before long. It all depends on how knackered I am from work. By the way, pacific is UNBELEIVABLE. I saw kylan play his $30 sit n gos with relative ease, with some me-and-jv-style-idiocy rife from around the table. Isaac, If you want some crazy ass play and a lot of money....I think I could recommend that. Theres also a $400 sign up bonus with 25% deposited instantly (i.e. $100) If you have money to throw around, why not take a look.

From a health point of view, I 've finally hit the 16st mark which was a goal I set myself at the start of the hols (red meat and weights for the win) so at least some things are going well!

Much liebe to all.

Feeling much better.

Just finished my first week of work. It is nice knowing you are owed £270.

I was still apprehensive before work started, not particularly about the idea of work, just if I was completely hopeless at what I was instructed to do, or if the factory blows up, or something happening basically resulting in me not getting paid. I'll tell you something though, it is very hard work. Put a long story short, I was thrown in at the deep end with all sorts of complicated paperwork and fast machinery pumping out an envelope every .25 of a second. (actual figure) You're on your feet in the same place for 8 hours, and have to find someone to take over if you need the bog. Hectic shit.

The saving grace is the people. They are fucking brilliant. There is not one sentence that is said where you don't hear 'fuck', 'cunt' or 'bastard'. When I came I had the 'so, you a student?' question along with few dirty looks, but I slotted right in after being myself (swearing, then) and not quitting after day 1 which is what they said they expected many people to do. So yeah, that is good.

Poker wise, still quite miserable online-wise, but went last saturday to a tournament at a different casino, and it was brilliant. Came 7th out of 40 so no cashes which was a shame, but it was poker. Actual poker. It was £10 entry, one rebuy one addon within an hour which was perfect in my opinion. starting stack 3k with blinds of 50/100.

The first table was quite good. Had a guy to my right whose name I remember Ftbling every time when I checked online, and who won some event in Edinburgh he was saying. The guy two to my right satellited into a UK poker tour event, but looked shit tbh, and the bloke 3 to my right who was a fat guy with a lot of jewellery and a lot to say, was again quite good, reciting his various favourite pots etc...the Sam Wong of the table shall we say :). Why they were in a £10 rebuy at a bradford casino I'll never know. Probably something to do with the league. He was quite offensive though, as I bluffed a few small pots off him and he started railing my play after I showed a few to see if he was tilty. So Earlier on I was chatting to a guy who plays 25NL on party who said he won 8k on a bad beat jackpot (cunt!) and then said that he plays really tight (no, actually), and then God put him to my left. Raisy Raisy.

Anyways, stayed on 3k for the first hour, and there was one good pot where I felt I was in the zone. Blinds 100/200. Fat guy limps UTG, I raise to 700 with AKo, and then another absolute rock raised to 2100. Fat guy folds. I said to the fat guy, 'you have tens or something,' and then said to the other lad 'I think the best I'm hoping for is a race, are you gonna show me Kings?' I then folded face up, and yep, they both showed melons and Kings, which got me a lot of respect and the good guy to my left said, 'you're dangerous.' :D.

It must be just that the Durham guys are that good ;) , beacause I can never bloody repeat that up there!! And Matt stop getting an erection after reading that. Hehe, joking. So yeah, stayed on 6 K for the next hour or so, I got blinded down to about 6 BB and pushed with 44 after a guy raised with A10, and luckily I held up. An hour on the blinds were huge and I found myself with about the same amount of blinds, and called on 88 on the BB and ran into JJ, lost and then managed to win with A high, and then top pair on the next two all ins to put me back where I was. On the Ft pushed with k6s on the button into k 10 and I was out. Great time though, and managed to outlast the three 'pros' to my left which was nice. Off again tonight, ill post it up if there is anything interesting.

Hope all is well. xxxxxxxxx

I wanna play pokerrr!

I can't really be bothered to structure this post properly, so bare with me.

I am skint. Very skint. Probably have about £50 in my bank account (including overdraft). Thankfully I start work on monday, but my first cheque for £275 won't come in for another week which is crap with that week in hand method.

Currently I owe Kessie £400 after he helped pay Spring terms college bill, Isaac £120 odd, St.Aidans College £250, and St.Aidans College Bum Club some sort of amount. Thats probably in the region of 900 quid I've got to fork out. Plus £300 rent at the start of next month. So make that £1200. And present for megan as it's 3 year anniversary time. And another £100 or so for a weekend away....fuck it just keeps coming. Right, so call that close to 1500 quid in extra-debt, which is just colossal (for a first year anyway). Whats worse is that I have been distinctly frugal when it comes to going out etc. (ok maybe a few to many Mr.Chois but the bloke is a god). Last summer without a proper job really did arse me.

Never mind. On the bright side me father randomly got me a laptop off ebay (Yorkshires discount online supermarket :D) for £199, 3.2Ghz, a gig RAM for all those who half understand computer blurb. Finally I can get rid off my 10 year old Hamster powered, toothpaste ridden bucket of spunk. Wahoo.

So, all this debt means I can't play poker. (online anyway). I was soo looking forward to complementing the job with a good few sessions but what can you do. Oh and the roll on UTD died a special death. Got up to just over £45 playing £2 sit n goes and 25/50 limit, took 20 out (needed to top up fone), and then played a £20 HU sit n go, don't ask me why. First Hand I have KK. He limps, I raise, he re-raises, all-in and yep, he has the chestnuts. LOL. the remaining 7quid went on Blackjack out of Tilt. I am discovering a trend in my game where I play ok (even well at times) and then just blow up. Randomly. Haha....what a bell.

So last Weds I went to the casino, to a new one called Napoleons. I looked online and it showed the results of the previous weeks tourny. I looked in astonishment at what I saw.

http://www.napoleons-casinos.co.uk/casinos/bradford/pokerresults/

The insane amount of rebuys led me to beleive that they were all morons, which was true but it also turned out that you started on 2k, with blinds starting at 100/200 and not going up till after the two hour rebuy period, which made more sense looking at the site. Now with bradford being bradford the vast majority there were Pakis, who were stoned off their tits, genuinely. The guy to my right, and left actually, were particluarly arsed in. 1 of them actually paid the guy 40 quid over the table for the weed I saw them exchange outside. It was fucking bizarre but hilarious.

Anyways I sat down, the announcer bloke on the tannoy gave the usual blurb of "enjoy yourselves, please keep conversation in english, and please refrain from splashing the pot."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, good luck"

And then a tidal wave of urdu covered the casino. And probably 2 in 3 pots were splashed. It was...a sight. I know I am a fucking gobshite at a table but this was insane. The dealers were all inept/scared and I'd realised I'd been put on the rowdiest table by far. The amazing thing was there were all ins every hand, but no, not on AK or 1010, but 10 6, 9 4 with the odd AQ thrown in there. The vast majority of the Pakis knew each other and instead of putting in the chips with a reasonable holding, UTG pushed blind every time and systematically got called by the rest who were getting better and better odds. I absolutely loved it, they were a top set of blokes and we were chatting and joking about. after about an hour the guy to my left had already rebought 7 times, when I woke up with KK in the BB.

It got limped round to me, amazingly, so I went all in for 1600 or so, and got 5 callers. Yes, 5. Miraculously my KK held up against shit like j6o to put me in the region of 8k. I then entered a pot on A4s with middle pair and a gutshot against the guy on 7 buyins. NAturally thinking I was good, The pot was about 2k on the turn, when I hit the bottom end of my str8, and the money went in. He had a higher one. Fair enough. Probably bad play on my part but He was so loose I thought I was good. So I was down to about 4k. I decided to add-on another 2k. I then waited and waited and waited (After a lot of shouting, near fights, and rebuys). The play tightened up slightly and I found QQ in the BB, another nice position to be in. He raised to 1k, and a went all in, he called with AQ and hit an A on the river. Shame. I was the first person to leave of the 40 people there.

Apologies for the epic, I was bored and wanted to share a ridiculous event. Hope everyone is running well. Paul you don't need to run well you cunt. Nice going mate.

No Full tilt bonus for me......and thus the return of an old friend.

Well, thats not great is it. When I say not great, I mean it's fucking shit. I think fucking shit, but really it's as tragic as a peadophile breaking into an orphanage.

Anyways, I started playing full tilt a year n a bit ago for play money, and to cut a ling story short I tried to wangle another account so I could get rakeback. Didn't go well. So....my good old friend...... POKER UTD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's such a horrible site, graphics are horriffic, it's like pixellated genicide- the cards are wonky and the buttons are squashed and sprawled on top of each other....imagine 17 (old) Andy Fordhams trying to get into a mini, and there you have it.

Saving grace? THE PLAYERS!!!!!!!! I had about a tenner left in, played a few sit n gos to get it up to 20 (£), and now I'm playing 25/50. It is that bad. People know I'm a tragic cash player, but genuinely these people just seem drunk. When I start work in a few weeks ima deposit on Titan and then Carbon (No expiry date on the latter) and hopefully grind it up there. Meh.

Life is good.

Well, where do I start. Passed my exams (amazingly). That's the first thing. In certain modules I didn't turn up to a single seminar in the last two terms because I thought they were shit, boring, and unnecessary, and thus far I've never set foot in Durham University Lbrary which is an achievement only a fresher (or a super brainy/lazy non-fresher) could achieve! I averaged just short of a 2:1 which is what I expected to be honest, though I know next year will be a lot better.

Next thing, football! Italy beat France and that smelly french cuntrag Raymond Domenech got what he deserved after mouthing off about how we've apparently cheated since the final of the WC. Spain in the next round will be interesting though, seeing as Gattuso + Pirlo are out, though De rossi and Aquilani should start if Donadoni has any sense! Woo happy days.

Next is poker. 25NL is going good, up about $100 in total, taking my roll finally past the 500s after a month or 2 of utter crap. It's interesting how I've taken to it seeing as it's 9 max and I'm normally a 6 max player. I am really happy with it though, as I was getting a bit pissed off seeing as I got from $40 to $400 in just over a month playing 5NL and $3 Sit n goes, and then having a break even few months having moved up. If I get past $600 before I start work then I'll keep withdrawing so I'll have just enough for the FT bonus...and then the proper poker will start.

The festival was great, so much fun. On the first table I had a min raiser to my right, so I just kept reraising :) swiftly developping a crazy image. There was one particalar hand where I smooth called to the river on a flop of all spades, turn X river X, when I put in a big raise to Magic's bet, and thankfully he folded top pair after saying "you must have flopped the flush." I showed AQ, no spade.

Next me and Hannes had a series of hilarious bluffing pots and we were just having a fucking ace time, cracking jokes etc, gotta love the big german. This soon led to an all in after I reraised 3x his button bet from the SB (blinds 150/300) with JJ and him coming over the top. This put me in a difficult position but I decided I couldn't fold and thankfully I was well ahead when he showed AJ. This put me somewhere around 2nd in chips overall to a bloke who doubled up from Tom lassey, who arsed himself epicly early on. (legendary)

Eventually I got to the final table but went out on the bubble after being pretty card dead. With blinds of 800/1600 I pushed A2o from the SB into Matt Gambles QQ which held up. The fish then went on to win the whole thing :)

There was a cash game afterwards which was again hilarious, I was a bout a fiver up after playing pretty well, and then an all in with Pauls KK sent me packing even though I actually put him on the Hand when he started talking. Hell, I was still too happy about Italy! So yeah, a great day with a great set of blokes, ending in the usual fashion of me giving my money to Paul.

Hope everyone has a great holiday, and hope the poker goes well.

Man love xxxxx

Finally out of the rut.

Some frequent posts here, and frankly bored as have nothing to do until after the Rowing. As I mentioned before I've started playing 25NL, and I'm up just short of 3 Buy ins, taking my roll up the 480s after about a month and a bit hovering between 430 and 370, a month of not particularly fantastic poker nor running well. The last two days have been different.

I've been running well (my definition: not being outdrawn when you're ahead), had minimal suckouts, and really just tried to get an image of supertight agressive, as I'm assuming a few players at 25NL may have software, using that to my advantage. I've hit some nice hands and got paid, but mostly they've been from people trying to shortstack, and not doing it very well, and bastards min raising (yes I do hate min raisers) and me calling on A rag to try and outdraw their KK/QQ firstly because it's cheap, and secondly out of spite :). By the way, if you wan't to extract value from me, min raise ;)

The Sit n go's havent been going to plan recently, can't put my finger on it... but I figure it's time to get the practice in on cash if I've any chance of clearing bonuses and breaking even/winning.

Christ I can chatter, but it's good to talk...even to myself :D.

WHY?????

Why is it that Italy get fucked over in every fucking tournament due to the epic uncompromising and downright thorough mental retardation of referees? Why!?

If you watched the match you will realise that Romania played good football, but Italy on the whole played better. After one fuck up my Zambrotta which gifted them they're goal, Pannucci scored at the other end a minute later. Fantastic. 1-1.

Rewind a bit. To a goal that Luca Toni scored through a header. Nice worked move, bang in the net. BUT NO!!!! yet ANOTHER shit decision. It wasn't difficult. it wasn't 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other. He was clearly 2 yards onside. That therefore would have made it 2-1. Next comes a penalty for what I can only assume is heavy breathing on the back of the Romanian attackers back. Thankfully the genius og Gigi Buffon ensured Justice was done.

To confound the general spastication of the officials, comes a series of excellent tackles, that were deemed too hard and were subsequently blown up by the ref. Arrrrrrgh!!!! Fuckers! As long as France don't go through I don't care.

Min raising?

I don't understand it. Genuinely. I see people min raising with top pair J, which to me is thick, because it's a hand which is easily outdrawn on later streets. You want to be getting maximum value out of it and so wouldn't you just raise 3x or more, and if you take it down you'd be happy anyway?

If you have the nuts and you min raise, to me it sets off alarm bells and I'll be more likely to fold a reasonable hand Heads Up. Raising 3x to me doesnt really make a difference, people who think they have a good hand will call anyway, so why lose value? I think the only time I might min raise would be flopping the stone cold nuts in a pot with 4 or more people, so if one bloke calls, the rest are getting odds to do so aswell, building the pot to then betting the turn hard. Meh, thats just me. Any comments on how I'm wrong would be appreciated

Just on 10/25 at the mo, up a buyin after fishing hard for a flush after I flopped mid pair and a draw...fuck it i'll just post it up.

more chatter

Carrying on the 10/25, up about two buyins till a minute ag0 where some fucker raised, I called with JJ, flop comes 668, he cbets, I raise, he pushes, turn 7, river 8. shows 10 9. Wouldn't have minded top pair, but CHRIST!!!

This bodes well for the future, if there are more people like this retard :)

Bored/hyper/hungry

Carrying on my fickle attitude toward poker, I am playing at this moment 25NL with 16BI so not really enough ideally, but it's fucking amazing how many more FPPs you get when playing it. Usually in the (tragic) event I do play online cash, It's 10NL 6-max, but 3 tabling 25NL 9 max will surely do the trick to clear the full tilt bonus this holiday. Just actually can't wait now to earn some rakeback and proper bonus money instead of pissing around on the 400 mark.

It's something new and interesting, and if that's the case, I play so much better. There are still morons here too, which is always useful when I start to play shit. I've been watching monsieur blake play 50/1 over the last few weeks, very tight-agressive and he rakes in the profit, so I've decided to play pretty much everything fast, and fold speculative (beautiful) hands like low/mid suited connectors, and so far it's going ok (i.e not down) Making some ok reads aswell- Put some bloke who pretty much min raised my raise from the SB on 66-99 and it went thus.

Just been round postering it up today with Tom around the colleges, should be a good Mary's contingent down there for the festival on tuesday after seeing a few mates from back home in town. Also durham regatta this weekend, which will be the last rowing i'll ever do :) 8 years of rowing gets a bit tedious. Bring on the martial arts!!!

More confidence, but minimal results.

Enjoying the 6.50 turbos, playing much better around the bubble too, and for the first time I feel confortable with the stakes I'm playing.

Managed to get to the final table of another 180 man tournament, but finished ninth after firstly flopping TP and a bloke calling to the river with the nut flush draw (fair enough I suppose), arsing me over for the majority of my stack. And then I muled off my chips after the Cut- off MIN RAISED and then I reraised all in with QJs (what was I thinking) for not very much more. Needless to say he shows the Nut pair :D

On a better note thought I felt my reads were improving a hell of a lot, and thus I was able to take advantage of people who were continuation betting on low flops and me raising hard with fuck all. There was one bloke in particular whose blinds I kept stealing and towards whom I was generally being a cunt. So we developped a bit of a rivalry... he caught me out a few times but although this next bluff may seem standard to better players, It was a difficult one seeing as from the word go he suspected. I put him on AJ-AK/KQ, there or there abouts, so the river was a bit stupid, but hey, it worked.

Oh well. Time for a break.

Over the last few weeks I've been learning not to moan, to swear at (still working on that one), or generally be disgusted with an outdraw because after all, few hands completely and utterly dominate another particular hand, and as we all know any two cards can win; and in the wise words of Matt Gamble, thats why we have fish :)

Today is a different matter however. Absolutely everyone goes on downswings, some ridiculous, some reasonable, and in my opinion the sooner we learn that the less angry we are and therefore we can play to the best of our ability. Isaac for example, has just the best temperament I've ever seen, and I want to emulate that. Anyways..to the point. Having genuinely deserved to be down 10BI in the Aidans cash game through alcohol/56 suited looking nice, I've won back around 4 BI in a couple of days....until now!

I'm back to where I started. This post isn't particularly an angry one, more a confused one. Tonight, as always, there have been outdraws...(the standard ones...blah blah blah,) I happened to be the unfortunate man to be on the end of such thorough bummings. I don't know why today in particular, but it has clearly affected my attitude to how I play, and how I should play. So in the same way as Ptevey (but less financially epic and important) I think I'm going to take a break from live poker at least until I can sort myself out and try and nail my shit points, of which there are many. What is so confusing though is that I've improved tenfold since 3 months ago, and I seem to be losing in cash (fair enough) and only breaking even online (Boooo).

Ahh, feels good to get that off my chest. (Note that I'm probably still pissed off from the Italy game today......wtf)

In other news, I'm definitely moving up to the $6.50 turbos, and so far it's been going ok, mainly because it's a new challenge and people tend to be a similiar standard to the $3 ones, but just a bit richer (not through poker I might add). My bankroll currently stands at around $410, but I'm not really hammering it at the mo, instead waiting for the hols where I'll have earnt about 3k by the end of it and can put in the hours to clear the bonuses. I feel that this will make me more confortable knowing I've got an income, and also judging by the low stakes mules (yeah donk sounds too american for my liking :D) on places like FT and the legendary Will Hill.

Lets hope I can play well for the Poker Festival coming up.....gotta sort out a shedload of posters now I've got Publicity bloke (can't remember the proper term) to raise awareness. All in all, it should be a great couple of days.

Ah and one more thing, some of you might be aware of a player called 'tuff_fish'. He's basically an asthmatic sounding american high stakes cash player who makes video blogs and puts them online. All I'll say is that the clue is in his name. Log on to youtube and search him and you'll see he's one of the most foul mouthed players ever (and some of the plays he makes are just awful) but nevertheless he's become a bit of a hero because he's just so funny. Anyways the other day I was playing a $3 tournament on Stars and he's sitting to my right. We talked a bit and he sounded like he was the genuine person and not an imposter. After a few doubts from Isaac I sharkscoped him and his stats are as follows

Games Played: 181
Av.Profit: -$5
Av.Stake: $16
Av ROI: -32%
Total Profit: -$882 (it was even worse than that about a week ago)

And while we're at it I might aswell give you mine...

Games Played: 353

Av.Stake: $3
Av ROI: 27%
Total Profit: $416

In further news...Matt Gamble is sunburnt to fuck, and it's really funny! What a ledge.

Bored of revising

Well, my head is in the literature books, and I've been playing poker to remedy the boredom.

To be honest, I'm still finding my feet these days with regard to what stakes and what kind of games I should be/enjoy playing. I think I have definitely come to the conclusion that for the moment the $3 18 man sit n gos are my most profitable.

Although my bankroll is nicely over $400 again I've had an epicly bad month with regard to the cards. But as always this can be expected. Where I have run fine and still lost big is in the 2p 4p cash game in college. After deciding no more rowing I was hammered for pretty much a week straight snd drunkenly asked Matt Gamble if I could be Advertising Sec. I also came up with a brilliant slogan but Matt the miserable bastard wont have it (see bottom of page). So this time I intended to have fun and break even. Wishful thinking!! After a series of celebratory all ins 10 BI were pissed down the bog. Fucking fun though. :)

Elsewhere a good mate of mine called Tom, who only started playing about Christmas time just cashed first in the $4 180 man tournament on stars, which is pretty damn impressive seeing as I only taught him the basics and about odds. (And to be honest nobody needs to teach him how to bluff because he's insane.)

Anyways...just want to get these exams over with, watch Italy wipe the floor with everyone at Euro 2008, see the girlfriend and start whoring the bonuses after I get off the disease that is Pokerstars. Oh and I wasted 500MPP to get a T-Shirt. Moment of madness but to hell with it.

Update.

Wow, it's been a veery long time since I posted. Truth is, I've not been playing that much until this week. Had to take some out as finances are naturally crap with the amount I eat and the rowing which I'm giving up next year (Get in) so i'm on around 360.

Right, lets get to business. This week the continuing trend has been the $3 sit n gos, but have moved down to 6 man, as they're all crap and each win gets me $11 dollars a piece. I've also been researching sign up bonuses for next year as I intend to whore it so badly i'll hopefully be at around 2k by the end of next year. Managed to get a job in the summer in an envelope factory getting paid 7.14/h which should fetch me close to 3k when i get back, which means no more financial worries and a shit load of poker! I do intend to play more cash, but to be perfectly honest my online cash game is shoddy.

today I'm moving up to $6 to see how it fairs, as I'm getting bored of $3 and start to tilt when I lose, thinking that I should win everytime which is clearly stupid, but hopefully i'll break even and even make a small profit.

Exams? just, lol. Will pass all of them apart from my literature modules. Beacause frankly, theyre shit, and as about useful as Bradford City FC.

Reet, hope all is good, ciao x

Eugh

Bankroll is still fine, 360 ish or so... just running real bad today. cashed in 0/8 which is gay and just went out to runner runner str8. In the BB with J 2hh, guy raises on the button with A3, make the call as he could have anything and was probably gonna shove the flop anyway as was ss. Flop comes J2x. He bets 400, I raise all in, he calls on A high and hits a 5 and then a 4. Moron.

Apart from that, passed the 400 mark the other day but only briefly, with nothing special happening pokerwise. Hope everyone is running well.

Grinding it up.....

Not much else to report, apart from playing quite a few sit n gos, managed to get up to the $380 mark, but have gone on a downswing since and have not cashed in 5 which is my worst run to date. Not to worry though, they've mostly been outdraws and I've been playing ok, so it's just a question of trying to hit the $400 before I actually have to start revising. Had another look at 5/10, pretty much even, maybe down 5 dollars or so but nothing drastic.

Sit n gos FTW (apparently)

Been playing some more of those sit n gos....cashed in 3/4 today so far......but I never seem to win any! I know my heads up play is borderline depressing, but I feel it's just about adequate for these sit n gos. I'm by no means complaining at what I've achieved so far in these 18 man turbos, but I'm thinking about changing my strategy a touch...

At the moment I'm basically going on image when the cards don't come which is pretty normal I suppose. I'm playing super-uber-tight folding hands like AJ KJ QJs in early position at low blind levels to wait for the gamblers to shove (as I want to be confindent my chips are in ahead) which is sort of vaguely abiding by that Sit n go book I got off Matt Gamble. It tends to mean I'm just taking small pots only now and again, as I want to conserve the old image. And I can't be arsed playing small ball a) because it's a turbo and I find myself in shit a lot quicker being unable to push people off hands when I start pissing the chips away...and b) I'm not good enough to outplay every player at the table.

So as it progresses im usually on about 1.7-2.5k going on to the final table and it usually stays like that on about 10BB getting gradually less as I enter the money. Unfortunately, my sudden change to super aggressive play spikes (correct) calls from the huge stack anyway with hands like 109, 87 etc when he's got such good odds. This renders blind stealing about as useful as, well...fuck all. Play around the bubble is probably too passive though so I'll need to improve on that a lot! Any help appreciated.....

A kick in the nads.

Soon after that tournament moving up to 5/10 seemed a good idea, as I now actually had a bankroll to support the variance (and to a degree my incompetence at times). Little did I realise that I would run insanely awful from the word go, flush over flush, straight over straight...blah blah blah.... and the variance turned into more of an avalanche, dropping 7 buyins- a pretty monstrous downswing. I wasn't particularly on tilt and I carried on playing the poker I had been doing, but at the end of the session I looked back over my hand history and realised I'd been playing scared- much like in the New Inn games. My confindence had taken a beating, which in turn meant I had no faith in any of my hands- however strong. I therefore missed out on so many value bets and found myself unable to extract any value whatsoever . (e.g.checking the river with hands like top two on a board with no flush or straight possibilities.) Thats when I knew something was wrong! Once I get some buyins back I'll have another crack at it and hopefully post some hands up.

So I thought sod it, lets concentrate on sit n gos, which is surprising as before two days ago I'd have rather played cash a million times over. Thus far, it has been a good choice! I've started killing the 3.40 18 man turbos, with the odd suckout here and there, but I've made 4 buy ins back in a few days, and I'm back on the 320 mark. I cashed in 6/9 yesterday (one was a $6 turbo I had a look at) ...and as I speak ive cashed in 3/3 today, with my money going in behind on no more than two occasions, which I feel is good. Having said this chances are it'll all fall apart again, but touch wood....I've found a nice little earner. For the first time I find myself looking at sharkscope regularly and not seeing a red -$40 dollars for Total profit, which is always nice.

Just for reference:
Av.profit $3
Av. stake $2
Av.ROI 47%
Total profit $232
Form: Shit hot......haha no im joking.

Hope y'all runnin good.

A gift from Mr_Rahl.

So about 3 weeks ago, I decided to put 20 dollars back into my account, as I had 3 essays to do for that week and I really couldn't face it, so I opted for a 'relaxing' game of poker. Knowing I should really start on 2/5 or even 1/2, I ploughed straight into 5/10 anyway. After about an hour or so i was up to about 30, and then I got stacked when I was rivered by a gutshot for 15 dollars, which put me on tilt. Reloading for 10 dollars, I moved table and had some crazy guy to my right who bought in for two dollars and kept going all in and got himself up to 8 dollars with some brilliant rivers. A few hands later he shoved from the small blind (folded round), and I found myself in the BB with two sevens. Call. He turns over A4o. The flop comes 4 4 4. 'Nuff said.

So I started swearing a bit and marched over to Isaacs to tell him what had happened (in hindsight it was incredibly childish but what the hell). As I went to leave the room I said something like, "If you're a generous man, you'll lend me 20 dollars" (I had no money at the time and was waiting to go home to start work again.) It was half a joke and half serious, though I never expected the reply of "Tell you what, I'll stake you $40." It wasn't actually the case that I would now have $40 to play with that made me happy , it was the fact that Isaac said "I know you can play" which really made me determined to play good poker. The conditions were that I played 2/5 and no more than $5 sit n gos, with 50% of profit going to him. I went back immediately and hit the 2/5 tables.

Little did I realise that 4 days later I had surpassed the $120 mark, playing about 3-4 hours a night while watching episodes from QI and mock the week. Even now I don't fully understand why I got to $120 so quickly- I wasn't running amazingly well and I couldn't say I was playing superbly either. I found 2/5 to be an incredibly passive game...any non scary flop checked round to you was just a licence to bet, and sure enough, the Texas Fold'em would commence. The simple concept of checking top pair always induced bets heads up, and this is probably where I got most of my money from. I must say though playing with someone elses money really makes you concentrate, but I feel overall I wanted to prove a point to myself and the others because I hadn't demonstrated anything concrete at all in my play since I got to university.

A few days ago I entered a $4 180 man sit n go on PStars, just to see how I'd fare. It was a pretty low key affair and just played the usual hands you do in the early part of a Sit n go. I doubled up early on when a guy pushed all in on AJ and I called with AQs, and I stayed pretty much at 3-3.5k until the last 50. With the blinds starting to get bigger at this point I had to make the odd play here and there as the cards didn't seem to come. I then picked up two aces in the BB which was a bit tasty. At just over 6k in chips and the blinds at 300/600, the button pushed with 2.5k and showed AQ, and with a harmless flop that ensued I was getting ready to breathe a small sigh of relief. However, the two queens that followed the flop didn't particularly help the cause and I found myself in very serious trouble.

Bizzarely, as the next round of blinds came, I had a walk on the BB and pushed all in with 10 9o in the small blind to take a much needed pot. I was now back up to about 4.5k. We were now in the last 25. Waking up with two sevens, the chips went in and held up against Q10 which put me in a helthier position at about 10BB. Desperate bluffing got me to the final table where I doubled up twice to be on about 21k, with the chip leader being on about 60k. An hour passed and I eventually found myself heads up with this bloke from Australia. He had a 3/1 chip advantage so I decided to go mental and about 45 minutes later I was in the commanding position with about 190k in chips to his 80k. In the final hand I had Q 8 and flopped top pair and he called my all in with 55 and didnt hit. $216 dollars went into the account to take me up to 340- pretty chuffed at the increase in just under 3 weeks. And for the first time, sharkscope actually makes pleasurable viewing! Cheers

Uni time!

Well, did I have a shock. There were a few £3 sit n gos in the first few weeks which I had a gander at. It was like a fish farm (is that even a word?). Needless to say I jumped on the bandwagon and did the same as there were no preflop raises and ended up cashing in one.
Then came the light at the end of the tunnel in the form of Matt Gamble and Isaac Blake. I didn't know what to make of them first but thought Matt was an arrogant bastard (I told him that when drunk! for the record we're very much in love now) but I knew they meant business. We set up a 1p/1p cash game, later increased to 1p/2p and played very frequently with Isaac who cleared up on almost every session. I'm about £20 up to date but play has been mediocre.

I then realised how much I needed to improve. Equity, implied odds, plus EV move....what the hell are they talking about? I turned into a loose aggressive player and eventually hit the society tournament, coming 2nd at the 2nd time of asking to Matt Gamble, playing pretty crazy like pushing A 10 into a flop of J94 with four people still in the pot. This led to the name 'Action Tony,' though I certainly didn't live up to the name when we finally got round to the house games a Keys' and the New Inn games. To be honest, I didn't play that badly in the first session of PL hold'em and got unlucky at times, such as when I raised 8 3 in middle position, told everyone I had 8 3, then wierdly the flop came 863. It ended up just Keys and me. He led out, I raised, he re-raised, and I eventually pushed thinking my hand was good. He turns over 8 6. That was that. I dropped two buy ins eventually but wasn't distraught at my play. Since then, I've been playing scared passive shit in those games which is particularly annoying. I'm probably down about £40-£50 in total.

Enter Pokerstars. I decided to put in 20 dollars mid way through the first term to see how I'd fare, and tried some sit n gos but my over developped agressiveness put a quick end to any chances of success. So I went (stupidly) to the 10/25 tables and shoved my entire bankroll on there, and managed to make it to 180 dollars through a combination of hideous rivers and a crazy image. I lost about 40 of it and then decided to withdraw, feeling a sense of accomplishment. Since then it has been mainly the 1p 2p cash games and a lot of reading/youtube and discussing that has set the ball rolling since these primitive days!. More on that in the next post.

Almost up to date...Tony x

Background!

Hey all, my name is Antony Paul (or just Tony), and I've decided to start a poker blog so I can share my thoughts, hands and happenings to all who are interested. I'm studying French and Italian at Durham university while rowing and probably playing too much poker. I'll warn you now, there's nothing particularly fascinating poker-wise, but instead of just discussing stuff with isaac or matt gamble, I'd rather broaden the range!

I've only been playing poker for about a year and a half, but it's become something very prominent since coming to university. I started off playing for play money with some friends on full tilt which was a lot of fun (reloading every five minutes and then finding a table and pushing with K9o thinking it's a great hand.) Eventually I learned the hands, the rules and the basic terminology to start playing more frequently with a certain degree of confidence. At that time I never really understood how huge the poker scene was until I hit good old youtube and started searching and watching a few hands.

Up until then I'd never played for money so I deposited £2 (yes you did read that correctly)on Will Hill recommended by my best mate who is a very good sit n go player. I had a go at a few one-tablers, miraculously won my first one after having played epicly bad poker and preceded to lose the rest playing similiar poker for the others.

Because I really enjoyed playing, I decided to swot-up to a degree and last summer I put in another huge amount (a fiver) on Poker UTD (some room where pissed football supporters go and give you their money) and started playing 6 man $1 sit n gos which was an absolute goldmine, ended up cashing just under £50 (pounds) before the end of the holiday- which was pretty good for a still-awful player. And then came university.........

Comments welcome...that goes for the rest of my posts to come..
